About the Foundation

The Acka'a-Hitchman Foundation is a private, mission-driven philanthropic body established to protect heritage, restore dignity, and enable long-term human flourishing through skills, culture, and regenerative place-making in Nigeria.

We work as a stewardship body rather than a direct service provider — designing programmes, safeguarding standards, and directing resources into carefully structured initiatives delivered through aligned partners.

The Foundation honours the lineage of Chief J.K Acka'a, whose visionary leadership established Viewpoint Nigeria Ltd in 1970 and shaped the philanthropic philosophy carried forward today.

Stewardship means we hold what we inherit in trust — not as owners, but as patient custodians. It informs every decision we take: protecting heritage rather than monetising it, training masters rather than producing graduates, and rebuilding communities rather than delivering interventions.

The order we keep is: Dignity before charity. Heritage before extraction. Mastery before scale. Stewardship before ownership.

Governance

The Foundation is governed by an executive body responsible for day-to-day operations and a separate, independent advisory council — the Usar Development External Council — which holds the executive accountable to the Foundation's charter.

The Usar Development External Council is an independent body of cultural custodians, technical experts, and respected community elders. It exists at arm's length from the Foundation's executive function. Its remit is to guide, scrutinise, and uphold the standards of our programmes.

Giving & Support

You can give online via our donate page — we accept payment by card (Stripe) and PayPal, one-time or monthly.

For wire transfers, planned giving, donor-advised funds, or institutional grants, please contact us directly and our team will guide you through the process.

The Foundation is a private philanthropic body registered in Nigeria. Tax deductibility depends on your jurisdiction and the structure of your gift. Please consult your tax advisor, or contact us so we can help you understand the options available for cross-border philanthropic giving.

100% of donated funds are directed to programme stewardship and delivery. Because the Foundation does not engage in commercial activity and is supported operationally through its affiliate framework, your gift flows directly into the work — heritage preservation, mastery training, agricultural regeneration, and community beautification.

Yes. Donors may designate gifts to specific programme pillars or initiatives. For restricted gifts above £5,000, we recommend contacting us so we can ensure your intent is matched to a suitable initiative and reported on appropriately.

Programmes

ACES — the Adikpo Circular Enterprise Demonstration Zone™ — is the Foundation's flagship programme. It is a place-based regeneration initiative demonstrating how circular enterprise principles, agricultural mastery, and community stewardship can be applied at scale to revive a place and its people.

Visit the dedicated programme site at acesadikporegeneration.netlify.app.

Our primary geographic focus is Nigeria. The Foundation's flagship demonstration zone is in Adikpo, Benue State, with associated initiatives across the region. Our governance and donor relations operate internationally, reflecting the global lineage of our supporting framework.

Partnerships

The Rooted Path is the Foundation's Formation Partner — providing the spiritual, ethical, and character-based grounding that underpins our programmes. Their philosophy — where faith is formed before it moves — sits at the heart of our approach to dignity-led development.

The Foundation collaborates with aligned delivery partners, technical advisors, and philanthropic co-funders. If your organisation's mission resonates with our four pillars and you would like to explore a formal partnership, please reach out via our contact page with a brief introduction.

At this stage, the Foundation operates as a grant-collecting body and directs its resources into its own programmatic initiatives delivered through carefully selected partners. We do not currently run an open external grants programme. This may evolve in future and will be announced through our newsroom.
