The Acka'a-Hitchman Foundation is a private, mission-driven foundation established to protect heritage, restore dignity, and enable long-term human flourishing through skills, culture, and regenerative place-making in Nigeria.

We work quietly, deliberately, and with respect — prioritising people, craft, land, and legacy over short-term interventions. Our work is principled, long-term, and impact-led.

The Foundation does not operate as a service-delivery organisation. It functions as a stewardship body: designing programmes, safeguarding standards, and directing resources into carefully structured initiatives delivered through aligned partners.

The Foundation stands within a wider philanthropic and cultural lineage established under the visionary leadership of Chief J.K Acka'a — a lineage that has, for over five decades, treated heritage as a living trust rather than a relic.

Today, that lineage is carried forward through three connected entities, each with a distinct purpose:

  • The Acka'a-Hitchman Foundation — the charitable stewardship body, programme designer, and grant-collecting institution.
  • Viewpoint Nigeria Ltd — established 1970, the original commercial vehicle through which the founding vision was first expressed.
  • House of V Heritage Holdings Ltd — the brand, hospitality, and cultural holdings entity, including The V Heritage Landmark Hotel.

The Foundation operates independently of all commercial activity. This separation ensures clarity, integrity, and sustainability across every entity.

The Foundation maintains a formal philanthropic affiliation with House of V Heritage Holdings Ltd — the brand, hospitality, and cultural destination entity behind The V Heritage Landmark Hotel.

Through a structured affiliate framework:

  • House of V Heritage Holdings Ltd supports the Foundation's mission through designated contributions and programme collaboration.
  • The Foundation does not trade, operate commercial activities, or receive guest-linked revenues.
  • All charitable activity remains mission-led, transparent, and purpose-bound.

The Rooted Path

Where faith is formed before it moves. The Rooted Path serves as the Foundation's Formation Partner — providing spiritual, ethical, and character-based grounding for the work we do. Visit website ↗

The Foundation is advised by the Usar Development External Council — an independent body of cultural custodians, technical experts, and respected community elders whose role is to guide, scrutinise, and uphold the standards of our programmes.

The Council operates at arm's length from the Foundation's executive function. Its remit is principled rather than operational: it exists to ensure that every initiative the Foundation supports remains true to the four values that order our work.

Council members are drawn from across heritage scholarship, traditional governance, regenerative practice, and community leadership — appointed for their judgment, integrity, and demonstrated commitment to the long view.

I.

Cultural Custodianship

Ensuring that every programme respects, protects, and elevates the living heritage of the communities we serve.

II.

Technical Counsel

Reviewing programme design for technical soundness, environmental integrity, and regenerative impact.

III.

Community Voice

Holding the Foundation accountable to the people, places, and traditions our work is meant to serve.

"

Dignity before charity. Heritage before extraction. Mastery before scale. Stewardship before ownership.

— The Order We Keep

We are a grant-collecting organisation. We accept restricted and unrestricted philanthropic funding to support the Foundation's charter. Every grant we accept is governed by our four values and reviewed against the standards of the Usar Development External Council.

The Foundation's flagship initiative is the Adikpo Circular Enterprise Demonstration Zone™ (ACES) — a place-based regeneration programme that brings together every pillar of our charter into one demonstration site.
